Extra dollar idea for Umina lucky bowler draw

Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club president Mr Tom Burgmann is considering an idea that could see some lucky Thursday bowlers go home with more money than they came with.

"We have had a suggestion from one of our members that an extra dollar for Thursday entry fees could be used for a lucky bowler draw, initially on Thursday afternoons.

"This would mean entry fees for Thursday would be $10, consisting of eight dollars for green fees, one dollar for the jackpot draw and one dollar for the lucky bowler draws.

"Using the numbers on the entry sheets for the draw, all of the money from this extra $1 would be given out on the day in the form of $20 prizes, then $10 or five dollars prizes until all monies were distributed.

"If there are any odd dollars, they could then go into the wrong bias charity tin.

"For example, if we have 76 players, there would be three $20 winners, one $10 winner, one five dollar winner and one dollar would go into the wrong bias charity tin."

Mr Burgmann said: "I thought this was a good idea, as it would give the players another incentive to play, as they would then have winning and losing rinks, jackpot draw and the lucky bowler draws.

"Where else can you get an afternoons entertainment for $10 with the possibility of going home with more money than you went out with?

"This lucky bowler draw has been given approval by the committee if the majority of Thursday bowlers are in agreeance.

"If it ever stops raining, we will have a vote when Thursday bowls is on."
