Case numbers grow by almost 1000 in a week

NSW Government figures have shown a total of 1217 "active cases" of the coronavirus in the Peninsula postcode areas of 2256 and 2257.

The most recent figures published were for Saturday, January 8.

Of the total, 948 were recorded in the previous seven days.

The greatest number of positive tests was 242 recorded on Wednesday and 217 on Friday being the next greatest daily tally.

The 2257 postcode area had 817 active cases on Saturday, of a total of 1096 recorded since the start of the pandemic.

The 2256 postcode area had 400 active cases, of a total of 536.

The data does not show hospitalisations by postcode.
