Garage sale might have been better with good weather
The Umina Beach Men's Shed garage sale held at Charlton St, Woy Woy, on Saturday, June 19, had a "good" financial result, according to Shed secretary Mr Vic Brown.
"But if we had had a good weather day it might just have been terrific," he said.
The owner of the premises, opposite the entrance to the Deepwater Car Park, allowed the group to use the sales yard and the office area.
With a forecast for rain, "we set up the sale of the majority of items within the office areas, and had a large gazebo outside with trays of smallish items.
"We got off to a really good start first thing in the morning: six o'clock to set everything up," Mr Brown said.
A team of six members helped with the set-up and another team that helped sort and unload items on the Friday.
"Just after 7am, the first customers arrived and despite the cold temperature and wind factor the customers and sales team kept moving right up to 12.40 when the rain arrived.
"The temperature dropped further and, with that, the customers simply disappeared from around Woy Woy, not just Charlton St, so we closed at 2:30pm with it still raining, windy and very cold."
