Committee re-elected at Peninsula Environment Group
The Peninsula Environment Group held its annual meeting at the Woy Woy Environment Centre on Saturday, March 13.
The group's committee was re-elected, with office-holders being president Mr Grant Focas, vice-president Mr Julian Bowker, treasurer Ms Michell Hallett and secretary Mr Mark Mann.
Mr Mann said the meeting included a review of the organisation's projects, which include the Woytopia sustainable living festival, the Woy Woy Peninsula Community Garden in Moana St, the PEG Nature Play Group and the PEG Food Network.
Woytopia festival coordinator Mr Bowker said that the 2020 festival had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus situation.
He said that, with Woytopia normally held every two years, it was hoped to hold another festival in 2022.
Mr Mann said the Woy Woy Peninsula Community Garden had a busy 2020 with an extensive program of improvements and repairs following a series of arson attacks.
He said the Nature Play Group was an informal network bringing together parents of young children keen to explore the outdoors and nature-based play.
It also reported a good year with a solid core of participating families and regular weekly walks and activities, he said.
"Both the community garden and the nature play group were able to continue with some modifications during 2020 because they were outdoor activities allowing for social distancing.
"The group's organic food-buying group, the PEG Food Network, also continued, with some modifications for social distancing, during the pandemic."
Food Network project coordinator Michelle Caldwell noted the group was currently open for new members who would like to buy organic and chemical-free food at wholesale prices.
