A glimpse of the future
River of Life
The River of Life floods the Peninsula
Drowning without mercy,
Gushing, rushing over a defenceless landscape,
Regaining territory lost to the bush.
Each day a torment to nature,
Writhing as environmental monuments disappear
Sacrificed to satisfy the unsatiable appetite of
The River of Life.
The River of Life
Is now in control,
Freewilled to defy
Whatever unfolds.
Outdone by the River
Nature retreats,
To regather its forces
And create mayhem in
The desolate streets.
The River of Life
Is short term and fickle,
Always at risk of
Being turned into a trickle.
The days are short
Until this event and the river is dry,
When other environmental monuments
Embrace the sky.
For the Peninsula residents who value and cherish the area.
