Special activities at local hospital

Hospital staff, volunteers and student nurses have taken part in special activities at a local hospital during May.

On International Nurses Day, May 14, staff at Brisbane Waters Private Hospital voted to recognise their best staff members for the year.

Ms Wendy Parker was voted Nurse of the Year 2018, according to hospital marketing officer Ms Petrina Waddell.

Allied health assistant Ms Danielle Baines was voted Clinical Person of the Year 2018.

And head chef Ms Shirlenne Fulton was voted Non-clinical Person of the Year 2018.

During National Volunteer Week, on May 24, an event was held to thank the volunteers who gave up their time to help the hospital.

On May 25, the hospital welcomed a group of nursing students.

The students, undertaking a Diploma in Enrolled Nursing, will be assisting and learning all they can at the hospital and gaining invaluable work experience across the medical, rehab and surgical wards and in the mental health unit, said Ms Waddell.
