Bush poet wins national award
Empire Bay bush poet Mr Peter Mace has been awarded the Blue Shearer Award at the National Folk Festival in April.
He won the award for his poem What Price a VC?
Mr Mace has been an Empire Bay resident for 40 years and a member of Gosford Bush Poets, practicing Bush Poetry for the last 15 years.
He was the Australian Champion in 2012, won the Golden Damper Poetry Competition at Tamworth on three occasions and has previously been the Reciter of the Year at the National Folk Festival.
This Blue the Shearer award was in memory of bush poet Col Wilson, known as Blue the Shearer, who passed away in February 2017.
