Umina lifesavers have standout performances

Two Umina Surf Life Saving Club members have had standout performances representing Australian Surf Life Saving.

Ms Rachel Wood and Ms Jemma Smith, have had a great overseas campaign with impressive results representing the country and Umina.

Ms Wood attended both the German Cup in Germany and the Orange Cup in The Netherlands, in the last week of November and first week of December, for the Pool Rescue Competition.

Her young team won the overall team trophy in Germany while she set a world youth record in the 100m Rescue Medley at the Orange Cup.

Ms Wood also set another world youth record in the 200m Super lifesaver event while in New Zealand a few weeks earlier.

Ms Smith represented Australia in the Opens Team at the International Surf Rescue Challenge at Mt Maunganui in New Zealand.

Her team won overall points and took out the championship which attracts competitors from around the world. SOURCE: Media release, 6 Dec 2017 Richard Braddish, Umina SLSC
