Umina bowling championship

The final of the Umina Beach Bowling Club's Major Singles Championship was held on Monday, June 12.

The final between Mr Lee Patterson and Mr John Aldersley proved to be a fitting match with both players pulling off great bowls throughout the game.

As the game progressed, the lead changed regularly and both bowlers had opportunities to break away but last bowl shots kept the spectators on the edge of their seats.

After 26 ends with Mr Aldersley leading, Mr Patterson picked up a three and both bowlers were level at 21 all.

Mr Patterson then took control of the game winning five of the next seven ends to hold on and win 31-25.

Umina Beach Bowling Club president Mr Ray Simpson marked the game and said it was a worthy final and that both bowlers played exceptionally well.

This was Mr Patterson's third major singles title in a row.
