Dredge should not be privately owned
The idea of a fast ferry from Sydney to service the Central Coast is a great idea but we need to have our own dredge not one owned by a private company.
If the Central Coast had its own dedicated dredge it could not only keep the entrance to the Brisbane Water open and navigable it could also be used at other areas of our Central Coasts water ways that require maintenance dredging including Woy Woy channel.
This dredge would have to be big enough to be able to under its own power get from location to location and it could also be rented out to other local government areas when required thus in turn generating an income for the new Central Coast Council.
This idea is also not just for the fast ferry proposal.
It would be an advantage for the whole of the Central Coast now that we have moved into a new era with the amalgamation of the two LGAs (Gosford / Wyong).
The new Central Coast Council needs its own dedicated dredge to keep our water ways open and safe.
