Students show steers at Singleton
Students from Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus took four steers to Singleton on Wednesday, September 18, and Thursday, September 19, as part of this year's Prime Stock Competition.
Brisbane Water Secondary College has a partnership with St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill, which allowed 22 Umina students to prepare and show one steer on behalf of the St Joseph's students.
The St Joseph's steer came third in hoof judging and was a reserve champion on the carcass judging.
Mr Rob Forsberg of St Joseph's College said he was impressed with the skills and showmanship displayed by the Brisbane Water students.
The students from Umina were publicly recognised by the Singleton Beef and Land Management Association for helping to set up and organise the event.
Many past Brisbane Water Secondary College students have learnt valuable skills at this event which have led to them to successful careers in agriculture.
