Charged over 'offensive implements'
A man has been charged after allegedly approaching two girls in Woy Woy and being found in possession of offensive implements on Sunday, April 5.
Two girls, aged 11 and 14, were at Rogers Park on Ocean Beach Rd, Woy Woy, when a man approached them at about 2:50pm and engaged them in conversation.
Concerned members of the public contacted police.
Police from Brisbane Water Local Area Command attended a short time later and spoke to the man.
When searched, police allegedly found a homemade wooden baton in his possession as well as a heavy metal chain.
As a result, the 62-year-old man was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possess offensive implements.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
The man, from Woy Woy, was granted conditional bail and will appear at Woy Woy Local Court on July 9.
