Two teams in debate
Two teams from Pretty Beach Public School competed in the annual Peninsula Debating Competition on Monday, November 26.
"The competition at this stage of the year was fierce with most teams being proficient veterans," said school debating coordinator Ms Michaela Bridgman.
"Our girls were not intimidated by this and audaciously faced their many opponents.
"After winning the gruelling first round of prepared debate, both our teams had only 45 minutes to quickly prepare for the next impromptu debate.
"In the second round, our first team gallantly debated against the formidable Ettalong and secured a convincing victory.
"Unfortunately, our second team faced the tenacious Empire Bay and narrowly lost.
"In the semi-finals, our first team also faced the fearsome Empire Bay, and although our Year 5s put up a good fight, they were no match to the polished Year 6 team who ended up winning the competition."
