Ratepayers will pay in future
Michael Murray (Peninsula News, August 6) is a little hard on those councillors who voted to abandon Council's rational policy on s.149 (5) certificates.
Some genuinely don't understand the science.
Others who believe in sea level rise may feel Gosford Council needs their expertise so much that being re-elected is essential.
It's unfortunate that all Gosford ratepayers and renters will be paying for any future litigation, but that's long after the current councillors are gone.
As for claims that Council lost money on dodgy investments, both Holstein and Macfadyen while mayors enjoyed headlines explaining Council had lost no money.
They've stood resolutely together on both these issues, showing a loyalty that crossed Party boundaries, and now they're voted with a Green on sea level rise.
Many have been asking for consensus politics, and finally we have it.
