Referees for sports day
Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus students have refereed at the annual Primary Sports Gala Day held over two days last term.
Umina campus teacher Mr Mark Rae said that campus students were asked to assist with netball, AFL, League tag, and boys and girls soccer events played across five venues at Umina, Woy Woy and Ettalong.
"Many students assisted the organisers at the venues with set up and the smooth running of games so all of the primary school participants could get back on their buses in time at the end of the day's play," said Mr Rae.
He said that the sports day "not only provides a chance for primary students to demonstrate their sporting ability but also the opportunity for the college referees to improve their self-confidence and self-esteem".
