National Park tours
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has announced it will hold two walks and a bike ride in January in Brisbane Water National Park around the Peninsula.
The service will present a walk focussing on flying insects on Sunday, January 10.
The walk from Pearl Beach to the Warrah Trig lookout and back will include observing native bees, wasps and other flying insects as well as wildflowers along the way.
While some of the track is steep, the tour does not require more than average fitness. Participants are asked to wear long sleeve shirts and pants, covered treaded footwear, hat and sunscreen, and to bring water.
The tour is from 9.30am until 12.30pm and costs $7 for adults and $5 for children.
The service is leading a beginner's mountain bike ride through the National Park on Friday, January 15.
The ride is seven kilometres return on fire trails from Staples Lookout to Mt Wondabyne.
Participants must bring their own mountain bike, helmet, spare tubes, snacks and water.
The ride goes from 2pm to 4pm.
The ride costs $7 for adults and $5 for children.
Another walk, entitled Wild Things on the Edge, will be held on Saturday, January 23.
It will concentrate on the area's colourful history, flora and geological diversity.
The walk needs sturdy shoes for nearing rock edges.
Water, sun protection and snacks are also necessary.
The easy-medium walk is from 8am to 12pm.
A dusk walk will be held in Bouddi National Park on Thursday, January 28.
The easy-medium walk is from 6pm to 9pm, with opportunities to photograph the changing colours as the sun sets in the national park and to watch the creatures that emerge in the twilight.
Sturdy walking shoes, water, snacks and a small torch are necessary.
Bookings for all activities are essential and can be made on 4320 4205.
