Spike Milligan bridge

What shall we call the new cycle bridge?

The council's decided but some aren't so sure

Needless to say it's caused quite a stir

Will we name it after a local?

Or will we call it Spike Milligan bridge?

The biggest above ground cemetery, Spike said in jest

When he came to visit his folks for a rest

We need to remember Spike loved this place

And he came to escape from the comedic rat race

So don't let's be serious, 'cause he never was

And let's raise our glasses to the Spike that loved Oz

And we'll have the last laugh on him

As we cycle along singing a song

'Cause he was the one who won all the gongs

The council has finally made its decision

It's now official the bridge will be named

But I can't help having this vision

I can hardly be blamed!

It's a beautiful summer night

Over Woy Woy, the moon is casting its light

When over the bridge a ghostly figure is seen

Cycling along singing a song

"yincong, yincong, tiddley ay tai poo

I now name this bridge for you -

'the Spike Milligan bridge'"
