Peter Hale steps down

Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club general manager Mr Peter Hale has announced he will resign as general manager of the club after 23 years in the position.

"I believe it is time someone new came along to the club," Mr Hale said.

"Twenty-three years ago I brought something new and fresh to the club, and now I think it is time for someone else to do the same."

Mr Hale denied the reason for his resignation was due to the club's $28 million debt.

"No, this is definitely not the reason for my resignation," Mr Hale said.

"I have been considering the decision over the last three months with my family and business associates."

Mr Hale will officially stand down from the general manager position at the club's annual general meeting on January 21.

He said the new general manager position will be discussed at the meeting.

"I am looking forward to taking a couple of months off," Mr Hale said.

"I have a couple of arrangements lined up after this time."

Mr Hale declined to discuss the nature of the business he will undertake.

"My time at the club has been terrific," Mr Hale said.

"It has been a great challenge for me."
