Station canopy finished in February

The new canopy at Woy Woy station is expected to be completed by mid-February, according to Member for Gosford Ms Marie Andrews.

"The canopy will be a significant improvement to Woy Woy station and will provide much needed weather protection at this busy station," Ms Andrews said.

"During rain, passengers tend to crowd in only the carriages that stop in front of existing undercover areas.

"This can hold up rail services and therefore the new canopies will greatly assist reliability."

Ms Andrews said the majority of work on the Woy Woy canopy at the country end of the platform was undertaken in mid-November 2007 and the final works would be finished in the coming months.

"The footings and frames have been installed and the roof will be installed by mid-February 2008."

The estimated cost of the project including design and construction is $578,000.
