Coast Busters send team to Queensland
The Coast Busters team has sent a team of 22 Breast Cancer survivors to Queensland to compete in the Abreast in Australia dragon boat regatta.
During October the Coast Busters raised funds for the Cancer Council at Deepwater Plaza, Woy Woy, and in several other locations around the Central Coast.
"We received fantastic support from our community," said publicity officer Ms Vicki White.
The Coast Busters team won first place in the B finals for the event.
"Some of our team members are not very well ladies, so being able to have them in the boat alongside us for the experience was very special indeed.
"We do more than simply paddle," Ms White said.
"Our aim is to encourage women to achieve their dream of regaining an active, adventurous life despite a diagnosis of breast cancer."
More than 2000 survivors from Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand and the United States participated in the three-day regatta from September 28 to 30.
