Knock-out final played
The Singles Knockout final was played between Cathy Shannon and Pat Clarke on Tuesday, August 7, in women's golf at the Everglades Country Club.
Pat fought bravely to hang on, but was eventually beaten by Cathy on the 19th hole.
Tuesday, August 14, saw the final of the annual Shootout match.
Ten finalists hit off on the first, with one being eliminated each hole until a winner was decided at the ninth.
At the ninth tee, the two remaining were Anne Kane and a tenacious Hien McManus.
Both players finished square on the ninth and, according to the rules, the match had to be decided by a chip-off.
Hiens proved to be just a little better than Annes on the day.
The Foursomes Championships were played on Thursday, August 23, in fine but windy weather.
A field of 80 players participated.
The victors were Lyne Kunze and Jan Henry who played a great game to defeat Gwen Gray and Shirley Bailey, the runners-up.
In second division, Daphne Clilverd and Joy Hall defeated Barbara Taylor and Barbara Olde.
Division 1 Nett Winners were Hein McManus and Beatrice Jager.
Runners-up were Lee Daley and Irene Quintrell.
Division 2 Winners were Liz Gordon and Alice Gattung, with runners-up being Edna Johnson and Iris Thompson.
