Events in women's bowls

Several events have been played at Everglades Country Club women's bowls this month.

The Minor Singles has been won by Clare Gerrard with Robyn Davis as runner-up.

Audrey Tucker has won the Major Pairs with her partner Sue Packer, from Edie Banks and Marie McNamee as runner-up.

Everglades has won the Loma Buckworth Shield, a yearly competition between the four Peninsula clubs for our new under four year players.

The teams were: June Grimson (skip), Colleen Jukes, Barbara Renehan and Maureen Knight; and Gai Jackson (skip), Fay Wood, Lorraine Hurley and Marion Collins.

The teams played with maturity to take out the event.

The 'Kingfisher Open Fours held at Umina is a prestigious yearly event and, of the 42 teams competing over the two days, nine teams came from Everglades.

The weather was perfect and the games hard fought and Everglades had three of the four final placings.

Joan Renehan, Claire Stanley, Edie Banks and Jean Lane came in second.

Gwen Hewson (skip) Sue O'Connor, Nolleen Pengelly and Iris Bate came third.

Goldie Edwards (skip), Val Douglas, Fay Wood and Marie Pedemont came fourth.

The Hen and Chicken event at Ettalong had Robyn Davis and Julie Valentine coming equal second.
