Club held hat day for mental health

The Rotary Club of Umina Beach has held a Hat Day for Mental Health.

Wearing hats to their regular meeting, they invited retired child and family psychologist Dr John Irvine to speak to them on the topic of men's mental health.

Dr Irvine is an honorary member of the club, honoured as a Paul Harris Fellow.

He took "a lighter look at how we can better manage the mental health of males", said club president Mr Dave Tanare.

Dr Irvine is the author of several books, including A Handbook for Happy Families and Thriving at School, and has appeared on numerous radio programs and written over 1000 newspaper articles.

Final cookery competition for the year

The Umina Beach branch of the Country Women's Association has held its final cookery competition for the year.

Winner of the Light Fruit Cake competition was Ms Celia O'Meara, with Ms Tracy Wilson second.

Ms O'Meara also won the Steamed Fruit Pudding competition, with Ms Robyn Gilmour second and Ms Rikki McIntosh third.

Peppermint Slice winner was Ms Glenda Chapman.

Ms Robyn Gilmour was winner for her Alice's Fancy Biscuits, with Ms Glenda Chapman second.

Judge was Ms Jenny Stott.
