Christmas-themed capes ready to be delivered

Members of the Umina Beach branch of the Country Women's Association have been making Christmas-themed capes.

Now a number are now ready to be delivered to the Capes for Kids charity.

Sandstone blocks to replace timber retaining wall

A timber retaining wall near the amenity block at Pearl Beach will be replaced with sandstone blocks, according to the Pearl Beach Progress Association.

"The height of these blocks will broadly be the same as the existing timber wall," said the association's council liaison officer Mr Pete Richardson.

"Some minor adjustments may be necessary to the alignment to ensure that the existing tree roots are not compromised.

"The Council will also consider whether any additional material can be imported to make up levels around the tree roots that are exposed.

"It is anticipated that these works will be completed in November, subject to resources."

However, it was possible the work could be deferred until March.

Mr Richardson said timber edgings around the play area had been repaired or replaced and new picnic tables had been installed.

"Unfortunately, the existing concrete bases which are not level have not rectified and, the specification for the tables is standard across coast."
