Wild weather leads to busy night for fire brigade
Wild weather on the night of Sunday, May 18, led to a busy night for the Fire and Rescue NSW Umina station.
They attended an alarm sounding in an Ettalong house, resulting from water from a leaking roof triggering a 240-volt smoke detector.
They were called to a house fire in another Ettalong house which turned out only to be smoke caused again by water in a smoke detector from a leaking roof.
The brigade attended flooding, with water across Empire Bay Dr at Empire Bay.
They were called to a fire in South Umina following lightning. After investigation of the area, no fire was found.
Finally, they were called to an alarm after lightning at an aged care facility in Umina. The premises were searched and no fire was found, but the alarm needed repair.
