Sorry state

It's a very sorry state of affairs that a minor bureaucrat can give away our water resources to a foreign corporation as Coca Cola Amatil.

It certainly rams home the point that as citizens we are virtually powerless.

Citizens can win against the State and powerful corporations, but it's an uphill battle against an overwhelming force.

In our political system is, as one astute Peninsula Politico put it, "the taxpayers' money is like a giant biscuit tin."

Then the major political parties vie with each other to get the biscuit tin, [i.e., government] so they can share out the biscuits to their mates and big business.
