Preschool timeframe requested

Gosford's Cr Laurie Maher has asked for a timeframe for the final determination of the Walsingham Preschool at Killcare Heights.

Cr Maher asked council's director of environment and planning Ms Colleen Worthy-Jennings if council could be informed of a timetable for the development.

He said he wanted the final determination to be made as soon as possible to ensure that the funding from the Department of Community Services was not further jeopardised.

Cr Maher said he was informed that all necessary reports regarding Walsingham Preschool were now with Council.

Ms Worthy Jennings said a report was currently being prepared but it was requested further information be included in the report.

Ms Jennings said the report was expected to be available for councillors by Friday, August 5.

Lack of erosion and sedimentation control at the sites was discussed at a meeting of the environmental planning and sustainability committee on March 15.

Council staff recommended that the security of the site be reviewed and improved, to prevent any further dumping.

The report recommended "once the soil analysis for the site has been finalised that appropriate action be taken if contamination is detected".

Stockpiles of landfill situated on the site for periods longer than 10 days would be "seeded with a sterile crop".
