Holstein steps down

Cr Chris Holstein stood down as chairperson of the Spikefest Committee at its annual meeting on April 18, making way for newly-elected chairperson Ms Nina Angelo.

Cr Holstein did not seek re-election and said it was time for the committee to move on with greater community control and direction, with the next major Spikefest event being planned for next year.

Cr Holstein said that council's support for the initial two years had laid the foundation for the festival to grow.

The festival committee expects to seek major sponsorship from the corporate sector this year.

Several "carry over" events are planned for this year including continued programs with the council, Woy Woy library and the Comedy Gala Evening.

However, the committee has agreed to focus on next year to enable a full program.

Cr Holstein remains a member of the committee.
