Bank branch launched

A prospectus for the Ettalong Beach Community Bank as a branch of the Bendigo Bank has been launched at a community meeting attended by 175 people.

Approximately $120,000 worth of shares in the company were sold on the night.

Chair of the steering committee Ms Debra Wales said that some people had come from as far as Wyong looking to buy shares.

"Since the last bank left Ettalong Beach, we have seen a decline in retail business," she said.

"The opening of our bank will turn the town of Ettalong Beach around, just as it did at East Gosford which was the first community bank on the Coast."

The new bank will open in February and will be located in the old Westpac Bank premises on the corner of Ocean View Rd and Pacific Ave.

There are now currently 136 community bank branches of Bendigo Bank operating throughout Australia.

The board of the newly-formed Ettalong Beach Community Bank Ltd is chairman David Steel, company secretary Brian Wright, Peter Mote, Peter Hale, Simon Della Vedova, Lynn Berry, Don Leggett, John Byfield and Ron Sinclair.
