Car boot sale put on hold until next year

Woy Woy Peninsula Lions Club has cancelled its monthly car boot sale and barbecue for the rest of the year.

Club president Mr Ian Taylor said the event which was normally held in the car park on Dunban Rd, Woy Woy, would be near impossible to manage with social distancing requirements.

Mr Taylor said club members were concerned about the safety of stallholders and the possible contact from the general public who may have Covid-19.

Club organisers have decided to cancel all monthly events held on the last Sunday of each month until the end of January.

Mr Taylor said the cancellations had put a large hole in the club's finances, but the health and safety of the local community was the top priority.

Lions Christmas Cakes and Puddings are still planned for mid-November and will be available at banks, chemists, and other retail stores around the Peninsula.

Provided restrictions ease, the club is planning to hold a stall in Deepwater Plaza shopping centre in late November.

Mr Taylor said the annual Tea Cosy and Devonshire Tea at Umina Beach Surf Club was still planned for June next year.
