Progress on Rotary project in Uganda

The Rotary project at the Divine Mercy Primary School in Buwampa, Uganda, is progressing well, according to Woy Woy Rotary president, Mr Russell Grove

"Construction of Classroom Block 2 has commenced in earnest," he said.

"The men are contributing their labour and have made rapid progress in just two weeks.

"All the bricks have been hand-pressed.

"The new classroom block will consist of four classrooms including an office and storeroom for each classroom," he said.

"The 360 students are all given maize porridge for morning break.

"It is prepared by a woman who does all the preparation and cooking voluntarily.

"She also prepares the meals for the construction team.

"As well as their school uniforms, the students have been allocated their sports uniform and put into teams.

"Bright colours have been chosen for the sports uniforms Orange-Lions, Aqua-Zebra, Hot Pink-Giraffe, Lime Green-Elephants," Mr Grove said.

Water pumps are also being installed on the school site, with one planned for the school kitchen and one on the roadside for community use.
