Coastal works to start at unspecified cost
Central Coast Council has not specified how much it intends to spend on coastal protection works at Umina and Ocean Beach.
In its operational plan for the 2017-18 financial year, it lists preliminary studies for the three-year coastal protection works project.
Action number 2017-18/ENV/012 commits the council to "prepare a technical brief and engage specialist consultants to design and undertake environmental assessment" by the end of the financial year.
The technical brief, engagement of consultants and environmental assessment are the first steps in what the operational plan described as a three-year project.
The project outcome was described as "construction of coastal protection works at Umina and Ocean Beach".
The coastal protection works were listed as a high priority action in the Gosford Beaches Coastal Zone Management Plan.
However, the Council has not provided details of the works proposed.
The operational plan also stated that the project was "subject to grant funding" and was under the management of council's Waterways and Coastal Protection Unit.
