Chamber 'disappointed'

The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has expressed disappointment over the lack of any decision by the NSW Land and Environment Court about the Ettalong Boarding House.

"It's been nearly four months since the court hearing and we are disappointed that a decision hasn't been handed down," said Chamber president Mr Matthew Wales.

"Although such delays are not uncommon, both the Chamber and the community had hoped for a decision before Christmas.

"We can only assume that the Court is being very careful with its deliberations considering the controversial nature of the application", said Mr Wales.

"Regardless, we are disappointed that the applicant has not considered a better alternative for the site bearing in mind its prime location on the Ettalong Beach foreshore and close to the retail centre.

"Rather than a boarding house with all its implications, the Chamber would much rather have seen a commercial/residential development that was more in keeping with the mixed use nature of the precinct," he said.
