Students excel in English test
Students from Woy Woy Public School have excelled in the recent International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) English test.
Outstanding results went to Andrew Huang in Year 3, Tom Rodham in Year 4 and Rhys McMahon in Year 5, all of whom received distinctions.
Along with these distinctions, Woy Woy Public students achieved two credits and 16 participation awards.
Run by the University of NSW, the ICAS tests are put together by academic experts to ensure they are relevant to the students' learning curriculum.
According to the university's website, some schools used the tests to measure their student's capabilities.
Other schools used the tests as an assessment component for the overall year or to compare their students to other schools.
As well as English, the ICAS also have tests designed for computing skills, mathematics, science, spelling and writing.
Over 6300 schools and one million students from Australia and New Zealand annually take part in ICAS.
Students from countries such as Hong Kong, India, South Africa and the USA also sit the tests.
