Work experience given to 32 students
Thirty-two students from Brisbane Water Secondary College, Umina campus, have completed a week of work experience in a variety of industries including retail, welding, hospitality and animal care.
"Most students based their work experience locally and we had a great response from our community," said College careers advisor Ms Nerrida Lewis.
"One of our students travelled as far as Sydney while another spent the week at Event Cinemas in Tuggerah.
"Samuel Lee spent the week at Pets Resorts, Terrigal, and Kane Harrington worked at Pro Ali, West Gosford.
"It was wonderful to see so many businesses open up to our students and give them such a great opportunity.
"Most of the students out on work experience were 15.
"It was amazing talking to them and discovering that many already knew what they wanted to do when they finished school.
"I would like to thank the support of the community for giving our young students a go.
"The week was a great learning tool for the students and they all got a lot out of the experience," said Ms Lewis.
