Parent coaching offered at Woy Woy
A coaching program to help parents deal with their children's difficult behaviour will be held at Woy Woy Public School on Wednesday, August 28, from 11:15am to 1:15pm.
The 1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching program aims to use an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use signalling system to manage children's difficult behaviour.
The signalling system means parents use less talk and less emotion, to encourage the development of a child's ability to manage their emotional reactions to parental boundaries.
It helps parents teach their children that they have a choice and their choices have consequences.
This program provides parents with strategies to effectively use discipline with their children and take the stress out of stressful situations faced with growing toddlers and teenagers.
The primary target group for group programs are parents of children in the pre-primary and primary school years, though it has also been conducted with parents of children as young as two years of age.
The 1-2-3 Magic program can also be used in classrooms by teachers to manage difficult behaviour.
