Free program on seniors' falls

A free program is currently operating in Woy Woy to help prevent senior's having falls and maximise their independence at home.

The two hour Stepping On program is held every Monday until Monday, March 12, at Woy Woy Leagues Club from 10am until 12pm.

It is open to anyone aged 65 years and older who live at home, are able to walk independently or with a walking stick and are fearful of falling or who have fallen recently.

Stepping On covers topics such as exercise for strength and balance, safe mobility at home and in the community, home hazard reduction, vision, footwear, nutrition and medication management.

The program co-ordinators are health professionals with backgrounds in aged care, fall prevention and rehabilitation.

Stepping On is a free NSW Ministry of Health funded community based program for seniors designed to build knowledge, strength and confidence to remain independent at home.
