Walks planned in nearby bush

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will hold a number of walks in nearby bush as part of its Discovery Walks, Talks and Tours program.

The next bushwalk will take place on Saturday, April 24, within the Bouddi National Park.

This early morning eight kilometre walk will take in bushland between Hardy's Bay and Daley's Point ridge.

Walking conditions vary from public roads to bush tracks, fire trails and sandy/rocky foreshore, including a steep ascent and descent on bush tracks.

The walk begins from 8.30am at Hardy's Bay and ends around 1pm, A second bushwalk will take place on the same day (April 24) taking in the "shipwrecks and seafarers" of the Bouddi National Park.

Participants have the opportunity to learn about the maritime history of the area including the wreck of the PS Maitland that saw 24 souls lost during a wild storm in 1898.

The walk will begin from 9.30am and run until around 12pm.

Each of these walks costs $7 per adult and $5 for children.

Meanwhile, on Monday, May 3, the service is celebrating 15 years of "Monday Meandering" with parks and wildlife guide Eve, who has dedicated the first Monday of the month to lead participants on a variety of walks.

This walk will allow participants to enjoy a three-and-a-half kilometre walk to explore the history of Daley's Point and experience the stunning panoramas over Brisbane Water.

The walk will begin from the Maitland Bay car park from 10.30am and return around 3.30pm.

Participants of all walks are encouraged to being sturdy shoes, snacks, water, sunscreen, insect and weather protection.
