Rain is back above average

After a dry start to the month, the rainfall over the last fortnight has put the Peninsula above the January average by 10mm.

Rainfall figures provided by Mr Jim Morrison of Hillview St, Woy Woy, show a total of 113.6mm for the month to Friday, January 25.

This compared to the January average of 102.8mm.

With less than 10mm falling in the first two weeks of the month, the Peninsula received more than its January average in just six days: from January 17 to 22.

However, there have been fewer days with rainfall greater than 5mm this year than in recent years.

There have been five days so far this month, compared to seven days in 2005 and eight days in 2006.

Last year, more than 5mm of rain only fell on three days during January.
