Palms purchased for Peninsula pool
Gosford Council's nursery has purchased 25 kentia palms for the garden area to the north of the pools at the new Peninsula Regional Leisure Centre.
Like the palms that were planted in Umina, the three to five metre tall palms will be stored at the Woy Woy council depot before being planted in May next year.
The roof structure over the pool areas has been erected by three cranes.
The road on the south side of the leisure centre is being constructed.
This part of the project was being done ahead of schedule as no work can occur where the cranes are working, according to a progress report from Gosford Council.
The leisure pool that incorporates the children's pool has been reported as a little behind schedule because of the construction of the roof.
The floor to the change room and reception area is concreted and now the walls are being constructed.
The gymnasium, aerobics and additional change rooms are underway with the concrete floors being constructed.
The council is making improvements to the local roads.
New pedestrian activated traffic signals on Blackwall Rd, a new right turn lane entering the leisure centre from Blackwall Rd and no right turns into Blackwall Rd from Burge Rd are among changes.
