Busy weekend for Marine Rescue

Marine Rescue Central Coast had a busy weekend on October 21 and 22, with two yachts breaking free of their moorings, a jetski stuck in mud and towing a vessel delivered by Marine Rescue Cottage Point.

On the Saturday, the service recovered yachts that had broken free from their moorings at Blackwall and at Koolewong.

"An observant member of the public called our radio operators as they noticed a yacht drifting in Koolewong," said unit commander Mr Ian Morrow.

"Our radio operators tasked rescue vessel Central Coast 22 which was on the water doing training at the time.

"The crew were quickly on scene, but did request that our smaller vessel Central Coast 13 be launched to assist getting the towline from Central Coast 22 to the yacht which was in shallow water.

"Central Coast 13 was launched and was quickly on scene to assist."

The yacht was towed to an emergency mooring.

Later that day, Central Coast 21 picked up another yacht that had broken free from its mooring.

On the Sunday, the service freed a jetski stuck in mud near St Huberts Island and towed it to Lions Park, Woy Woy.

The service also took over a tow from Marine Rescue Cottage Point at Little Box Head and delivered it to Lintern St Wharf, Davistown.

Working bee at Pearl Beach hall

The Pearl Beach Progress Association will hold a working bee at the Pearl Beach Memorial Hall at 9am on Wednesday, November 1.

The working bee will clean out under the hall and fix any insulation that has fallen off.

The hall storeroom clean-out may also be attempted.

Anyone willing to help will be welcome.
