Funds awarded to replace Marine Rescue vessel motors

Marine Rescue Central Coast has received grants and donations totalling $58,000.

The money will be used to replace and fit two Suzuki outboard motors on one of the unit's rescue vessels.

The vessel, Central Coast 21, is deployed in Brisbane Water, Broken Bay and offshore when required.

The money was presented to the unit at its annual awards ceremony held at the Gosford RSL on Wednesday, June 12.

Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch announced the state government's grant of $38,000.

"We recognise the important job undertaken by volunteer emergency services on the Central Coast, including Marine Rescue at Point Clare," Ms Tesch said.

"Services like these would not be possible without the dedication of the volunteer men and women involved.

"It's important the State Government continues to financially support Marine Rescue where we can, through initiatives like the Community Building Partnerships 2023 grant funding."

Bendigo Bank representative Mr Paul Thomas presented a cheque for $20,000 on behalf of branches across the Coast.

Mr Morrow said savings in maintenance are expected to be made with the acquisition of the new engines.

"The objective is to improve the reliability of the vessel to respond appropriately in emergency situations," he said.

"During April and May, there were 233 log-ons which represented just under 600 people on board the vessels.

"During those two months, 28 incidents were reported to our base."

In-house cookery competition

The Woy Woy branch of the Country Women's Association held an in-house cookery competition on Monday, June 17.
