Mega marathon planned for Woy Woy bingo

Organisers of Woy Woy Bingo are planning a June Long Weekend Mega Marathon from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday, June 8.

The hall will open from 12pm with additional chairs and handheld electronic units to meet an expected increase in demand.

An afternoon session will be held with $100, $150 and $200 prizes and two $1000 prizes.

The evening session will have five $1000 prizes.

Books will cost $50 for a set of six for the afternoon and $65 for the evening.

Free catering will start at 5pm.

Proceeds benefit the Woy Woy parish of the Catholic church.

Sloop freed from mud after tide returned

A 26-foot sloop was caught by the outgoing tide and became stuck in the mud and sand at Blackwall Point mid Sunday morning, May 19.

The skipper, from Blackwall, called Marine Rescue Central Coast for assistance.

Rescue vessel CC 22, pictured, was dispatched and an attempt was made to tow the yacht from the sand, but this failed.

It was decided to wait a few hours until the tide had returned before attempting another refloat.

Around 2.20pm, it was agreed the tide was high enough to attempt a second tow, which was successful and the yacht set sail on its way.
