Brigade attends petrol spill

Pearl Beach Brigade answered a request to attend a petrol spill on the Pearl Beach Dr hairpin in Pearl Beach in the early afternoon of Thursday, February 15.

The volunteers attended quickly, finding a minor spill of petrol on the road, indicated by the distinctive rainbow effect on the wet pavement.

The crew spread spill-absorbing material and swept the roadway clear.

The brigade reported residents, visitors and workers showed patience and co-operated with the traffic control necessary while the road was partially closed.

Rotary club celebrates 48th birthday

The Rotary Club of Umina Beach has celebrated its 48th birthday.

The occasion was celebrated at the Tropicana Social Club at a meeting of members and friends.

"Some 14 members were present along with partners and exchange student Justin Cuennett," said president Mr Wayne Dowdle.

"There was a good crowd to celebrate the evening with cupcakes being provided for all to enjoy in recognition and celebration of the event.

"It was a fun low-key evening meeting."
