Mangroves go for pathway

The tree management officers and the policy of tree preservation need to be called to account for the continued removal of healthy trees.

Trees give aesthetic appeal and life to an area becoming largely devoid of vegetation yet full of villas, concrete and camellias.

Yes, trees can become old and need removing for safety, though when healthy specimens are removed for the continued over-development of the Peninsula, one must call into question the reason.

Even when trees are marked for retention on a development site, they mysteriously get chopped down.

Then the council officers say: "Sorry, there was bad communication" or "We asked for it to be kept".

Sorry is not good enough.

Gosford Council rightly takes a person to court over the illegal removal of a tree, yet removes remnant multi-stemmed banksias when constructing an unwanted roundabout.

It removes and mutilates mangroves while constructing a pathway.

Is this a policy of do as I say not as I do?
