New levy with rates
A new levy will be charged from July 1 with rates this year.
Property owners will now pay a Fire and Emergency Services Levy which will contribute directly to the funding for NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service.
The Fire Services Levy will no longer be paid with house insurance.
Central Coast Council administrator Mr Ian Reynolds said the levy would be clearly identified as a separate item on the rates notice.
He said the levy would be passed straight to the NSW Government to fund fire and emergency services.
A letter explaining the new levy will be sent to all Central Coast Council ratepayers with their April rates notice.
