Peninsula receives highest rainfall in 12 years

The Peninsula received its highest monthly rainfall for the last 12 years in March.

A total of 485.2mm was recorded in March, according to figures supplied by Mr Jim Morrison of Woy Woy.

This is more than 12 per cent higher the next highest figure of 431.9mm recorded for April 2015.

In the last 12 years, monthly falls of more than 300mm have been recorded on only five other occasions.

All but one of these were recorded in the last two years.

A fall of 369.9mm was recorded in June last year, 367.4mm was recorded in January last year and 367.4mm in January 2015.

The only other fall of more than 300mm was a fall of 377.6mm was recorded in June 2007.

The average March rainfall is 123mm.

The month with the highest average rainfall is June with 173mm.
