Teenager assaulted on train

A teenage boy was assaulted and robbed aboard a train between Woy Woy and Gosford on January 3.

Police believe the 19-year-old was assaulted by one or more people and had his wallet stolen during the incident.

The young man was travelling on the northbound train from Central to Narara around 1.45am when the incident occurred.

A passenger on board the train located the youth unconscious in the train carriage and notified the train guard, who called for assistance, according to police.

The train was met at Gosford by transit officers and ambulance personnel.

The teenager was taken to Gosford Hospital suffering a serious head injury and he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling on the train from Central to Narara early on January 3, and who may have witnessed the incident or seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact Gosford detectives on 4323 5565 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

In particular, investigators would like to speak to two males who were seen leaving the train at Tascott train station at the time of the incident.
