Aldi decision is deferred

A decision about the proposed Aldi store on Brisbane Water Dr at Point Clare has been deferred to allow for clarification of the "general store" definition under the Gosford Planning Scheme Ordinance.

Council resolved to find out "why this would be different to that of a supermarket".

The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce brought attention to the issue on December 5 last year, stating that the proposed supermarket should not be regarded as a "general store".

The proposal would include the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of the Aldi store as a "general store"

Council also resolved that should the definition be confirmed, that council look into the aspects of traffic movements and safety within the adjoining streets.
